One of the characteristics of plants grown at low P availability is that root growth gains at the expense of shoot growth resulting in a high root to shoot ratio. Maintaining a high root activity in the production and post production phase may be considered as a method to improve plant quality with regards to plant sensitivity to post-production stress. This can ensure adequate water and nutrient uptake under less favorable growth conditions such as low light intensity. A well developed and strong root system is particular important when using robots for handling of plantlets.

Root growth was stimulated by COMPALOX® P buffer into a peat-based growth substrate.
